Catnip can promote different reactions from your cat. Pinch a very small amount of catnip and place on scratchers or beds. Catnip is edible and many cats enjoy eating it. Some cats get sleepy and others very active.
If you have multiple cats, I recommend giving each cat catnip separately. Some cats get possessive of catnip and do not want to share but no worries there is plenty for everyone! Cats who generally are possessive at first also calm down after a couple minutes, so do not be afraid to introduce catnip!
Note: Baby kittens do not react to catnip (yet) and a small percentage of adult cats do not react.
